i think this is a funny picture. it's from one of the slides talking about current research for migraine medications. what is hilarious is that first bar of placebo (mk-0974). it's amazing that a placebo can give almost 50% of people pain relief, while rizatriptan, one of the medications that's actually on the market, only makes efficiency about 70%. and if 50% of migraines can be fixed by a placebo, does that mean that migraines are 50% of the time psychological? i don't really know how to interpret that. but it's shockingly high for something that supposedly doesn't have any physiological effect. unless placebos are usually that high, and we have become a society that creates our own diseases so we can satisfy our pill-popping obsession. hiv and cancer are really psychological. just take a sugar pill.
